mah, non credo che la questione vada così nel filosofico.... insomma, il grand central terminal è bello perchè in stile ottocentesco, senza pretese di riportare chissà cosa indietro nel tempo: sono semplici discorsi di architettura.

Che sia bello è opinabile.
Che sia bello "perché in stile ottocentesco" è evidentemente assurdo, perché esistono edifici ottocenteschi brutti, e edifici non ottocenteschi belli.

Ma infatti per stile ottocentesco si intende quello che viene prima del moderno degli anni venti. Non a caso in storia l'ottocento è il "secolo lungo" e il novecento il "secolo breve" :wink:

in una città moderna come lo è NYC sì: ottocentesco è bello. In Europa siamo abituati meglio, ma basta tirare più indietro il confine temporale: tanto per fare un esempio, il Colosseo è bello perchè è bello, o piace perchè antico?

Però è vero che esiste anche il "bello perché antico": tipo le stamberghe di epoca romana a lato dell'Altare della Patria.
E poi c'è anche il fascino del pittoresco, della rovina e del rustico, ma niente di questo c'entra qualcosa con la Penn Station (se mai con la High Line).

No, quello e' la copia, non l'originale. Il PanAm - Metlife e' dichiaratamente ispirato al Pirelli.

Certo, ma idealmente Porta Garibaldi dovrebbe essere potenziata, in futuro, in modo da renderla importante quanto Centrale.

Idealmente, se ci fossero delle visioni futuribili per il nodo di Milano...

Ottocentesco = prima del '68 e dei Verdi
Moderno = tutto il resto
